ABOUT FLORENCE LAUFER
As director of Prison-Insider.com, I worked with an energetic team to make available information on the detention conditions of prisoners throughout the world. I also provide consulting services in the fields of conflict transformation and human rights, interreligious and intercultural cooperation, migration and integration, development and humanitarian relief. I have managed the ‘Cordoba Now’ program of the Cordoba Foundation of Geneva, focusing on action research for the transformation of conflicts with a religious dimension.Prior to this, I was seconded by the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs as an Expert for civilian peacebuilding to work for the United Nations, with the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). There, I developed a program to challenge polarization and address intercultural tensions, promoting migrant integration for inclusive societies by setting up an online community, social media networks and public events. For several years, I worked for a non-profit organization, first with migrants and asylum seekers in Switzerland, and then managing development, conflict transformation and humanitarian aid programs in the Middle East. I have developed several projects to build bridges beyond divisive issues, acting as a mediator in the negotiation and implementation of the activities. I have studied Human Geography in the University of Geneva, focusing on Cultural and Migration Geography.
