About Florencio Mazzoldi
For 30 years, I have built teams, defined strategies, and delivered and supported technology used throughout several industries. Currently, I drive innovation in life sciences. My leadership is inclusive, practical, and straightforward. I care deeply about people working for me, and I strive to create and communicate clear visions and strategies that bring teams together. I can (and often do) work well alone, but I’m best at collaborating with others. Even though my latest roles have been in leadership, I strive to keep my technical acumen and remain hands-on. Being a big advocate of agile methodologies, I\'ve coached teams and whole companies in the introduction of agile methods, and managed multiple agile efforts.I’m passionate about my work and love to innovate. Since 2018, I lead Digital Technologies for Ginkgo Bioworks. Ginkgo makes organisms that can solve problems in multiple industries. As an executive leadership team member, I drive technology strategy across IT Engineering, Helpdesk, Cloud Infrastructure, Software, Product, AI Enablement, and Information Security, overseeing an annual budget of $50M+.Before Ginkgo, I built and led the engineering group at Autodesk Life Sciences for 6 years, first exploring bionanotechnology, bioprinting, and synthetic biology domains and later building commercial software to design and build proteins, which can be used as therapeutics, fuels, new materials, and for industrial processes. My transition towards Life Sciences started in 2011 when I coached a team of researchers at Harvard and Autodesk to finish Cadnano2, a CAD tool for DNA Nanotechnology. Before that, I led payroll technologies at Ceridian, where my team of 150 engineers modernized and consolidated multiple payroll engines and built the new SaaS offering. Previously I led a team in UnitedHealth Group to build a clinical system, and before that I defined the architecture of several systems in GMAC Rescap, the mortgage securitization branch of GMAC.I have a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s from Universidad de Buenos Aires.Areas of Expertise:Strategic PlanningMachine LearningSaaS Innovation StrategyCloud TechnologiesTeam LeadershipProduct DevelopmentSynthetic BiologyAgile Methodologies
