ABOUT FRANK LEYMANN
I am professor of Computer Science at University of Stuttgart, Germany, and director and founder of the Institute of Architecture of Application Systems (IAAS), and WSO2 Technology Fellow. I am an elected member of the Academy of Europe (AE) as well as the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA), fellow of several academic institutions, Kurt Gödel Visiting Professor for Quantum Computing at TU Vienna, past member of the IBM Academy of Technology, and IBM Distinguished Engineer emeritus. My major focus is Quantum Computing since several years, running multiple projects in this domain. Also, I work on software architecture of composite and large distributed systems to ensure their non-functional properties. This includes Cloud Computing, Middleware, Service Computing, Business Process Management, Pattern Languages, and innovative applications. Also Internet of Things, e-Science and Digital Humanities is part of my work. I am consulting companies across industries in these areas, published more than 600 peer-reviewed papers, and about 70 patents. In the past, I worked for two decades as software architect at IBM contributing to DB2, MQSeries and WebSphere. For more than a decade I was Chief Architect of IBM\'s Process Management products, also in charge of the architecture of IBM\'s ESB, On Demand & Utility computing (now called Cloud Computing) technology. As IBM Distinguished Engineer I was co-architect of IBM\'s middleware platform from year on. Also, I contributed to several standards for OASIS, OMG and W3C, and I am original author or contributor to many Web Service standards, BPEL, BPMN, and TOSCA.
