About Forrest Jehlik

My story begins at childhood, being terrified of my father\'s model airplanes. He and his best friend raced control line model airplanes and ultimately became world champions. To me those planes were blindingly fast, loud, and hot; this was enough to terrify and mystify any child. Apparently the fascination stuck.This led to building my own model airplanes, progressing to motorcycles, building race cars, and becoming a research/machine learning/data science engineer. In the end, my childhood terror and wonderment matured to problem-solving which became a lifelong process. What am I passionate about? Tackling challenging problems, programming, coding in Python, machine learning and AI, creative discussions, energy/energy transfer and optimization, big data sets, design of experiment statistical techniques, learning and applying new skills, and of course good old-fashioned problem-solving. Does a problem need to be solved, an algorithm need be coded, a part fixed, or analysis work and a dynamic presentation need to be completed? Great, I\'ll do it. The toolset isn\'t as important as the attitude to get it done and get it done with a smile. Research is about passionately problem solving to find a solution, and when done right is an art. Away from work, I enjoy endurance racing junkyard cars (24-hour races) and scruffling with the dogs. Human hands were made to touch, build, and tinker and we should never lose the childhood fascination of doing so.Our lives are full of challenges. I wholly embrace this and am grateful to play any role in tackling them with a never ending can do attitude.
