About Fiona Okumu

Fiona Okumu is a Kenyan-American creative thinker from Ithaca, New York. She is a graduate from Ithaca College where she majored in Writing for Film, TV, and Emerging Media. Fiona is a firm believer in accessibility within the entertainment industry, and through her dedication to this cause, she created the Silents Roar! Youth Film Festival in 2016 at age seventeen in partnership with the Wharton Studio Museum. The festival was free to enter and aimed to teach the students of New York State basic filmmaking elements through the creation of a three-minute silent film. By partnering with Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications, Fiona was privileged enough to give out over worth of prizes and gift cards to students and schools.Her experience as a development intern at Sony Pictures, 20th Television, The Gotham Group, and Scripty Podcasts has opened her eyes to the future of media production and ignited her passion for creative development. She hopes to work her way up at a production company, studio, or agency and help creatives develop a unified creative vision for their media projects and careers. Fiona is excited to enter the entertainment industry and see what new doors she can open for others.Fiona\'s screenwriting work is an interesting mix of surrealism, comedy, and drama.
