ABOUT FIONA JAYNE SMITH

I am a fully qualified (ICAS, 2024) Manager at PwC’s Centre of Excellence, specialising in the audit of tax with a focus on maintaining and advancing audit quality and efficiency. Over the past four years, I have developed a diverse industry profile across banking, manufacturing, and retail, enhancing my technical expertise through professional qualification, internal trainings, and coaching.Currently, I act as the lead on engagements (working on multiple at a time), responsible for project management, team empowerment, stakeholder communication, and budgeting. I am actively involved in initiatives that strengthen our operations, including the Resourcing Committee, Squad Representative for around 20 colleagues, and launching a Logbook Initiative to support our ICAS students. I utilise available technology and continuously seek smarter ways of working.Recently, I have started a secondment to Tax Deals to further enhance my skills and experience. Prior to PwC, I worked at Morris & Young Accountants, delivering audits, independent examinations, and year-end accounts for various clients. I also bring seven years’ retail management experience, where I built strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, consistently respected for my integrity and work ethic.I hold a First-Class BAcc (Hons) in Accounting & Finance from the University of Stirling, where I achieved full ICAS exemption for the TC exams, was awarded the KPMG Prize for Advanced Financial Accounting, and held leadership roles as Class Representative and Equestrian Club President.
