If you’re focused on public safety and the structural performance of your bridges, I can help. I bring the owner\'s perspective to bridge challenges you face. Fickett provides inspection and testing services for bridges and other structures. I provide consulting services and technical training. I have nearly 40 years of structural design, construction, maintenance, policy, and management experience. I’ve designed and overseen the production of thousands of bridge plans and projects. Wisconsin State Bridge Engineer As a former Wisconsin State Bridge Engineer for seven years, I was responsible for all bridges in the state. This experience gave me a deep background in existing and new design/construction methods. I also served as the primary representative on the American Associations of State Highway and Transportation Officials Committee on Bridges and Structures. I worked directly with the other 49 DOTs on national bridge-related policies. Training One of my passions is presenting on complex transportation issues. I’m a certified trainer for the National Highway Institute (NHI). I provide training on Bridge Inspection and Fatigue and Fracture around the country. I’ve worked with the Federal Highway Administration on a one-day training course for Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC). Since 2017, I’ve presented this ABC training to 34 different State Departments of Transportation and Puerto Rico. I teach the following NHI courses for professional engineers: • 130053 Bridge Inspection Refresher Course • 130055 two-week Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges • 130056 one-week Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers Fickett’s Mission At Fickett, our “why” is to ensure that every structure we inspect is safe. Our services include structural inspections, nondestructive evaluation (NDE), bridge rating/design, and technical training.
