About Jason Fine

As a Chief Engineer at Aurora my responsibilities and experience include program technical leadership, systems engineering, system architecture design, and final approval for all program engineering documents. Specific focus areas include CONOPS development, requirements development, avionics architecture design, RF links, payloads, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulator design and test, flight test, technical publications, and technical interaction with key program suppliers. One of my most enjoyable roles in recent years was serving as the principal architect of the ISR payload system for the Centaur Optionally Piloted Aircraft. This system brought together multiple high-end maritime-focused sensors all controlled and monitored through a common operating picture software application customized for remote use from the Ground Control Station.Special Skills-Active FAA Certificated Commercial Pilot (single and multi-engine) with Instrument Rating, High Performance and Complex Endorsements-FAA Certificated Remote Pilot, Small Unmanned Aircraft System (Part 107)-Former UAV Safety Pilot for both fixed and rotary wing unmanned aircraft at Lockheed Martin, Cornell University, Georgia Tech, and Adaptive Flight Corporation (20••••07)-Experienced Radio Control helicopter and airplane pilot and instructor

During 20••••24 I led a team through the design, integration, and flight test of a number of reliability and performance improvements for the SKIRON-X VTOL UAS.From 20••••23 I led the Centaur Optionally Piloted Aircraft program through the technical design, integration, and test of major system upgrades to achieve long-endurance fully unmanned flights with a multi-sensor ISR payload system. In 20••••17, led a team through a >$10M effort to outfit a UH-1H Huey Helicopter with a custom-designed full-authority digital flight control system. This highly successful program accomplished full hands-off flights from takeoff through landing, and served as the testbed for a sensing and autonomy package that enabled the aircraft to automatically detect and avoid obstacles in the terminal area.
