WORK HISTORY
Team Lead & Interpreter, Polynesian Languages @Missionary Training Center
US
Key Responsibilities: •Led interpretation for 25+ meetings and training sessions throughout the missionaries\' stay at the MTC, ensuring accurate and culturally sensitive communication in group and one-on-one settings. •Assisted missionaries in one-on-one settings such as medical or ecclesiastical appointments, supporting their transition to missionary life, and assisting in crisis response for physical and mental health needs. •Facilitated training to volunteer interpreters through training seminars, meetings, and practice sessions. •Translated written materials for department projects and special assignments; supported temporary events such as Mission Leadership Seminars. •Contributed to a culture of trust and unity by participating in team trainings and promoting harmony within the interpretation department and broader MTC environment.Key Accomplishments and Impact: •Helping missionaries feel seen, supported, and spiritually grounded. •Serving as a Tongan Interpreter at the MTC has been one of the most meaningful roles of my life. I’ve interpreted live for more than 25 different meetings, from daily devotionals to leadership and mental health training sessions, ensuring missionaries fully understand and engage with their preparation experience. •I supported a missionary who had suffered a traumatic injury and was navigating both physical recovery and spiritual discouragement. Through one-on-one interpretation during medical and physical therapy appointments—and simply by listening—I became a constant presence in his healing journey. Language was more than a tool; it became a bridge of trust, comfort, and hope. •What brings me the most fulfillment is knowing that my work helps missionaries feel at home, strengthens their faith, and allows them to focus on their sacred calling. Every word I interpret is an act of service, and every soul I support is a reminder of why I do what I do.
