About Mike Chavez
I love my position as National Educator and Loan Officer with VLG. For years I\'ve wanted to make a tangible difference in people\'s lives, and I finally get to do so during my work hours instead of waiting until after work or on the weekends. Helping primarily military families achieve their dream of homeownership and teaching them about their VA Home loan benefit gets me rocking out of bed each day. I created the YouTube channel \"Finances with Mike\" to help others get out of debt and build wealth through free tips and tricks as well as premium individual services. I also launched the YouTube channel \"Uncle Mike Reads\" to focus on reading and reviewing children’s books to foster literacy and critical thinking, all while having fun and boosting kids\' self esteem. I am proud to be the board President at Reading is Fundamental of Southern California (RIFSoCal), whose mission is to promote literacy and motivate children to read by providing new books to create home libraries for underserved children. I am also a board member for Hannah Ridge HOA, primarily focused on financial analysis to reduce costs and improve the community. I volunteer at a local library reading to kids, am a semi-proficient snowboarder, and am at best an amateur bass guitar player. I hold a Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration with a Management Concentration/Legal Emphasis, and am a graduate of USC\'s Master of Business for Veterans (MBV) within the Gordon S. Marshall School of Business. My wife and I live in Colorado Springs, CO and have three adult sons.
