ABOUT FILIPPO BISTAGNINO
As a medical student at the International Medical School, University of Milan, I have developed a strong interest in Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) surgery, with a particular focus on bariatric and metabolic surgery. My passion for these fields has led me to engage actively in both clinical practice and academic research (H-index 2). I have had the privilege of presenting my work at international congresses, including those organized by the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), of which I am currently a member. In addition to my academic and clinical commitments, I serve as the European Director of Research for the Mission:BRAIN Foundation, headquartered at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida (USA). Mission:BRAIN is a global nonprofit organization with 109 chapters across 27 countries dedicated to improving access to neurosurgical care in underserved regions. This role has further strengthened my skills in leadership, project coordination, and global health collaboration. I remain committed to advancing surgical science and patient care through both research and hands-on experience.
