Dr. Fikri Kuchuk, an Emeritus Fellow Geoscientist, is a globally recognized petroleum engineering leader with over 50 years of experience across the U.S, France, Dubai, and Turkiye. A former Schlumberger Fellow and Chief Reservoir Engineer, Dr. Kuchuk has since focused on teaching advanced Formation and Well Testing techniques at universities and advising industry leaders.At Schlumberger, he held roles as Senior Scientist and Program Manager at the Schlumberger-Doll Research Center, and previously taught Advanced Well Testing as a Consulting Professor at Stanford University. He began his career at BP/Sohio, focusing on reservoir management. Dr. Kuchuk holds degrees from Istanbul Technical University and Stanford University.A distinguished member of global scientific societies, Dr. Kuchuk is affiliated with the SPE, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and the U.S. National Academy of Engineering. His pioneering contributions earned him the SPE Reservoir Engineering Award, the SPE Formation Evaluation Award, and the prestigious Kapitsa Gold Medal. In 2022, he joined the SPE Legion of Honor for over five decades of service and mentorship in petroleum engineering.Beyond industry, Dr. Kuchuk has held leadership roles with the SPE, contributing to committees and serving as Associate Editor for the Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering. His research spans well-testing, formation evaluation, and advanced reservoir management, including groundbreaking experiments with Saudi Aramco in Ghawar Field, Saudi Arabia.With over 20 patents and more than 160 technical publications, he co-authored seminal works on transient well testing and formation evaluation. His teaching extends internationally, having mentored students at Stanford, Nancy University, and Istanbul Technical University, where he established a computational lab and introduced an advanced formation testing course.Dr. Kuchuk’s lectures have reached top universities worldwide, including Penn State, Texas A&M, IFP (France), and King Fahd University (Saudi Arabia). His seminars at global institutions, from Russia to Japan and the Middle East, reflect his commitment to advancing petroleum science and inspiring the next generation of engineers.Dr. Kuchuk\'s enduring impact on naturally fractured reservoirs, reservoir characterization, and well testing has significantly influenced the energy sector, leaving a legacy of innovation and academic leadership worldwide.
