ABOUT FEY IJAWARE

I am an experienced civil servant and a thought leader, with a motivation for driving change, skilled in agile, designing, creating, and improving new and existing products and services.My engineering work centres on the technical aspects of building and maintaining a large, dynamic, highly complex accessible products and services for users, adopting good practice and making decisions based on research, technical strategies, and data. I also contribute to the front-end, user-centred design and software communities, providing technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring.I work at the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) Digital as a Senior Front-End Developer using my skills to help make a positive difference to the lives of millions of people that use the digital public service.I was recognised in the Northern Power Women Future List 2019 and as one of Tech Nation’s 50 Most Inspiring, Prominent and Influential Black Voices in Tech 2019.I am a public speaker, DEI advocate and community leader. I am the founder of CodeandStuff & CodePossible. I also volunteer at various outreach projects that work on getting more underrepresented minorities and young people into the tech industry. We’re in an industry that touches every aspect of people’s lives and massively influences society as a whole and I want to be a part of making sure that the industry is both ethical and diverse.
