He is currently a founder in stealth developing AI-native approaches for biologics, and is active as an investor and advisor to companies at the intersection of computation and life sciences.Fernando is the co-founder of BioGlyph, where he previously served as CEO and CSO, building the company’s scientific vision, platform strategy, and early team. He remains a shareholder but is no longer operationally involved.Prior to BioGlyph, Fernando was Director of Protein Therapeutics at Gilead, where he founded and led the Next Generation Biologics Engineering organization, expanding capabilities across virology, oncology, and inflammation. Before Gilead, he spent nearly six years at Amgen, rising from Scientist to Principal Scientist while establishing industry-leading workflows in multispecific antibody engineering and advancing programs in cardiovascular disease and oncology.Fernando has also held leadership roles spanning platform innovation and strategy, including Director of Biotechnology and Innovation at BioMap, and serves on the Advisory Board of Abilita Therapeutics.He completed postdoctoral training at The Scripps Research Institute in the laboratory of Ian Wilson, focusing on structural immunology and antibody–antigen recognition, following earlier research at the Institute of Cancer Research in London on DNA repair and target discovery. He earned his PhD from the University of Barcelona through a competitive international fellowship and received the Scripps CHAVI-ID Young Investigator Award for contributions toward HIV vaccine development.
