André Fernandes MD, MRCSTrauma & Orthopaedics | Research | Digital Health | Medical EducationI am a Trauma & Orthopaedics doctor in the NHS with a strong interest in evidence-based surgery, digital health, and building systems that improve patient outcomes at scale.Alongside full-time clinical work, I have published multiple high-impact systematic reviews and meta-analyses across orthopaedics, trauma, and surgical care — often written during nights, weekends, and between on-calls. In 2021 I set myself a personal goal of “5 by 2025”: five clinically meaningful publications before the end of 2025. That milestone is now complete.I currently serve as- European Representative for Digital Orthopaedics & AI at SICOT- Medical Lead for Quality Improvement & Patient Experience at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals- Digital Champion for Trauma & Orthopaedics- Master AI Trainer in clinical data and model optimisationMy work sits at the intersection of clinical care, research, technology, and education — with a focus on how intelligent systems, better data, and rigorous evidence can make healthcare safer, faster, and more human.Outside of research and leadership roles, I care deeply about mentorship, teaching, and helping younger doctors and international graduates navigate careers in UK medicine.If you’re interested in collaboration, research, digital health, or building meaningful things in healthcare — feel free to reach out.
