About Fernanda Marrero Hi

Fernanda Marrero Hi, Ed.M. recently served as the Director of Policy for County Executive Lina Hidalgo in Harris County, Texas, the third most populous county in the nation, with a population larger than 26 states. Before this, Fernanda served in former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner’s administration in the city’s Office of Education and Youth Engagement, where she oversaw the development and implementation of equity-centered initiatives that championed children and families. In 2023, Fernanda was selected to serve as the inaugural Houston Admissions Alumni Regional Chair for the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In this role, she works closely with the HGSE staff in identifying potential partnerships, advising on recruitment priorities and strategy, referring prospective students, supporting in-person admission events, and cultivating the HGSE alumni network in Greater Houston.Fernanda is a graduate of Harvard\'s Education Policy and Analysis master\'s program (\'23). She is also a first-generation college graduate of the University of Houston, where she graduated summa cum laude with two bachelor\'s degrees (B.S. Sociology and B.A. Earth Science) and a Texas teaching license (life science 7-12) through the teachHOUSTON program.
