ABOUT FENGYANG LIN
As a researcher trained in quantitative methods, I specialize in statistics, machine learning, and causal inference. My work focuses on the critical intersection of privacy and security, online advertising, and human-AI interaction. I explore the consequences of consumer data collection and sharing, investigating the impact on various stakeholders within the digital economy—including consumers, publishers, advertisers, intermediary platforms, and content creators. Recently, I have also started thinking about identifying consumer risks during interactions with GenAI and other emerging technologies, particularly for vulnerable populations. Prior to joining Cornell, I have a background in Statistics, Machine Learning and Data Science. I have worked on several projects to identify patterns from extensive digital trace data with ML methods and to design algorithm for information extraction from scientific literature. The research has been published in prominent journals such as PLOS ONE and MEDINFO.
