ABOUT FENG GAO
Dr. Gao received INFORMS 2014 Annual Meeting Interactive Presentation Award. He is a founding member of Power and Energy Society Task Force on Big Data Analytics for Grid Operations. He has co-authored about 20 academic papers. He serves as Vice President of Public Relation for The North American Chinese Power Professional Association (NACPPA). He is a part-time faculty member at San Jose State University for teaching power system course.Dr. Feng Gao received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in and 2003. He received M.S. in Economics from Iowa State University in 2008. He obtained his Ph.D. from Electrical Power and Energy Systems Group (EPES) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University, Ames Iowa, in December 2007. He was a Lead Engineer in State Grid Smart Grid Research Institute North America Inc, Santa Clara, California, where he was responsible for leading the development and research of the models and algorithms for the power system analysis application for the multi data sources-driven online analysis systems. Prior to joining SGRI, he was a Senior Application Engineer and Support Lead at ABB Inc. and Ventyx, an ABB Company. He has over ten years of experiences in Power Market Management System field, and has been actively involved in design, development, delivery, and end-to-end project integration phases for large-scale Electricity Market projects across North America and Global. He has been actively working on design and development of the core engine for Security-Constraint Economic Dispatch and Security-Constraint Unit Commit functionalities. His research interest includes Power System Analysis and Operation, Optimization Theory and Application, Electricity Markets, Smart Grid applications in support of renewable energy integration, and Big Data applications in energy system.
