My partner and I have just launched a new company, called Access Your Life. Our website is a safe space where disabled people and their carers can communicate with others, share knowledge and advice. We encourage users to review any medical aids, adaptations and supports they have used regardless of whether it was a positive or negative experience. With the directory of reviews created, we want people to be able to form a realistic opinion on how well a device meets their individual needs. We hope they will no longer have to make a decision based on a sales pitch from a supplier, or rely on vast amounts of unrelated online sources. Both my partner and I have learnt first-hand how the right piece of equipment can transform someone’s life, so we want everyone to have the opportunity to improve their quality of life, whether you are a patient, carer or a family member/friend supporting someone with their medical condition or disability.My partner and I have been working on creating a website for many years now, so it is extremely rewarding to finally see our hard work pay off. We are working with a great team of people to create a unique and much needed service for disabled people. Initially I had very little experience producing and developing a limited company, so the journey so far has been a steep learning curve. I am now competent in creating a website on programs such as Squarespace, as well as implementing and managing our marketing strategy.
