About Felix Akinboyewa

I have an expertise in peacebuilding/capacity building involving youth and women empowerment; prisoners rehabilitation and reformation; refugees, minorities, internally displaced persons; and other vulnerable groups in the society. I engage in programs and projects involving counterterrorism, counter-insurgency, countering violent extremism, and deradicalization of violent extremists in the society. My duty involves leading the Treatment Team members to:Engage - getting to know the violent extremists, radicals and terrorists, establishing positive professional relationships with them, developing trust, and entering constructive dialogue with them through good communication skills.Risk - undertake a thorough risk assessment to identify the reasons for becoming a violent extremist/radical/terrorist and the level of risk the violent extremist currently posed. Needs - identify their risk-related needs. That is, the activity that would help to reduce the risk that the violent extremists and radicals would engage in, or advocate, their future activities. Here I used research/program design and development skills to map out the needs of these kind of people.Response - implement the interventions that would meet the violent extremists and radicals, identified risk-related needs and thereby reduce risk. I apply various skills in the deradicalization program such as capacity building/empowerment, Project/Program Management, monitoring, evaluation, and execution during the rehabilitation process of the violent extremists.I also engage in peacebuilding initiatives involving youth and women empowerment through capacity building, gender mainstreaming, Program Design and Development, Training of Trainers, Needs and Impact Assessment, Advocacy Development, Project/Program Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation.I also engage in conflict analysis and mapping, conflict sensitivity, conflict management, negotiation, mediation, reconciliation, conflict resolution and post-conflict reconstruction.
