Jun 2025 — Present
Through the V-SMART summer research program, I joined the Dean Lab to study the role of the glutamine transporter SLC38A5 in pancreatic islet alpha cell proliferation. During the academic year, my research is focused on investigating the role of SLC38A5 in cell death signaling by assessing cleaved caspase-3 expression—a key marker of apoptosis—in mouse alpha cells. I use techniques such as immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence imaging to analyze cellular responses and protein expression.
