As a founder and board leader, he brings together donors, community advocates, policymakers, educators, and coaches to deliver transformative programs in underserved communities — from strength and conditioning gyms in Trinidad to health equity efforts in Milwaukee. His leadership style is defined by clarity, compassion, and a relentless drive to create measurable impact. He fulfills his purpose through his current professional position as Vice President of Engagement for Bader Philanthropies, Inc, a global foundation with headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The foundation’s one goal is to help people. Franklin is also the driving force behind the Deon Lendore Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation headquartered in Wisconsin and registered in Trinidad and Tobago as an External Corporation. The foundation’s mission is to ensure that every young person, regardless of background, has access to a sports experience that inspires them to thrive in the classroom, on the field, and in life. With over two decades of community leadership and executive experience, Franklin combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, turning high-impact ideas into sustainable programs. He believes that physical activity is a powerful equalizer, and he works tirelessly to equip schools, certify coaches, and create a system of support that reaches youth where they are — and propels them to where they’re meant to be.In 2018, Franklin partnered with the Milwaukee Bucks to start the Milwaukee Youth Sports Alliance (MYSA). MYSA is a citywide, collective effort to ensure that Milwaukee’s youth have access to high-quality sports programs that contribute to their overall development. Franklin is also on the board of directors of Froedtert Hospital, where he serves as vice-chairman. Froedtert Hospital is the primary adult teaching affiliate of the Medical College of Wisconsin and a major training facility for medical, nursing, and health technical students. It is also a respected research center, participating in some research studies, including clinical trials, every year. Franklin is a Level 3 certified track and field coach, the highest level of coaching in the United States. In 2019, he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, where he held the 400m record for 38 years.
