I am part of a team helping to secure funding for This is a wonderful program that trains veterans, service members and anyone else interested in a career in agriculture. There also happens to be a severe shortage of people going into agriculture, so this program fills two critical needs at the same time. I am proud to be a part of it. I am also a member of the Armed Forces Community Foundation, a 01(c)(3) in Manhattan, Kansas that assists veterans and their families. I\'m the former editor and columnist for Court Appointed Special Advocates Orange County, a great non-profit that helps children in the social services system. I volunteered with them in one capacity or another for over 25 years. I spent several years at Yahoo, serving on their employee grant committee, writing ads for their search engine, and taking down websites on the Yahoo network that had content that violated federal law. It offers a one-year training program, as well as therapeutic assistance, for veterans and their families. There also happens to be a severe shortage of people going into farming, so this program fills two critical needs at the same time. I am proud to be a part of it.
