ABOUT FAZLULLAH AKHTAR
I am a Water Resources Specialist and Senior Researcher with over 15 years of professional experience spanning academic research, policy advisory, and development practice—including more than 7 years post-PhD. My expertise lies in hydrological modeling, GIS, remote sensing, and climate impact assessment, particularly in data-scarce and fragile environments. I have worked on water-related challenges in several transboundary river basins, including the Kabul (Indus), and Amu Darya, and have collaborated on regional initiatives in Central and South Asia. Currently, I am leading a DFG-funded research project on integrated water resources management in the Panj-Amu River Basin, Afghanistan, at the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn. I have a strong track record in project design, scientific publishing, stakeholder engagement, and translating research into practical policy solutions for sustainable water governance.
