This opportunity pairs students with mentors working in impactful legal roles across government, NGOs, and the public sector. I have been paired with the Co-Executive Director of Programs for CASA of the Continental Divide, who also serves as a city councillor, working directly in policy, advocacy, childhood trauma, human rights and public health law. Their diverse experience in supporting vulnerable communities and navigating the intersection of law and social impact will be invaluable to my development.This scheme will help me develop my employability skills, grow my professional network, and gain a deeper understanding of how law can drive meaningful social change.

ABOUT FAYE GORDON
I am a fourth year law LLB student at the University of Bristol, where I am expected to graduate with a Bachelor of Laws degree in June 2025. Within my third year, I participated in a study abroad year at the University of Queensland after having achieved one of the three spots available for this opportunity within my cohort. I believe that this experience helped me to deepen my global perspective on legal issues and practices, as well as diversify my legal skill set due to studying a comprehensive, varied array of modules.Throughout my years at the University of Bristol, I have actively engaged in a diverse array of enriching opportunities that have contributed significantly to broadening the skills required for my future as a solicitor. For example, working as a Global Lounge Ambassador during my second year meant that I had to ensure an inclusive and supportive environment was available for all types of students. Therefore, I often participated in campus tours, insight days, and cultural events. Core competencies developed by this role include oral advocacy, cultural awareness and adaptability.Additionally, from December of 2022 to February of 2023, I completed an 8 week internship at a law firm within Times Square, New York City. My work area revolved around merchant cash advance agreements, where a merchant had defaulted from payment. As a result, I had to commence advanced legal searches to locate merchants\' assets, draft legal documents such as summons and complaints, file motions, send UCCs and ISRNs out to banks, and complete lots of other legal admin. Consequently, I developed crucial skills required for a solicitor, such as due diligence, attention to detail and commercial awareness.Within my second year of university, I also volunteered as the Social Media Officer for the Bristol University Women in Leadership Society, where I created and managed engaging content for the society\'s online platforms, promoting the society\'s vision and values. I am passionate about empowering women and advancing their leadership opportunities in various fields, such as law. I believe that I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to teams, as well as a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. Core competencies developed by this role include project planning, digital marketing, communication and organisation abilities.My comprehensive academic background, coupled with my strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and dedication to upholding justice, positions me as a candidate well-suited for success in the role of a solicitor.
