Pro soccer player, Pilot, President What do these professions have in common (apart from the fact that they all begin with the letter \"P\")? They were among the many career paths I aspired to pursue growing up. Those did not occur, as evidenced by my job title. “Awesome, Fatin, but what\'s the point?” Despite the fact that I did not end up in one of those professions, my interests endowed me with a unique skill set that has helped me thrive as an Engineer. Discipline & Teamwork:Good luck getting a ball into the goal if collaboration and discipline aren\'t at the heart of what you do every day. At a business serving multiple clients, cultivating synergy through working as one with each group is a necessity in creating robust products/services that sell. Identify issues and deliver solutions:You book a flight to Bangladesh and board the plane with total confidence in the pilot\'s ability to safely transport you to your destination. On the cockpit dashboard, a random light flashes. Being a subject matter expert on the plane, the pilot reacts correctly by lowering the flight altitude and informing the status of the flight to passengers. The plane eventually stabilizes, and the warning light turns off. As an engineer, it\'s critical to understand the full customer journey. A product/service on the verge of being released could not be doing well, yet it could be due to errors in providing the essential input and development at an earlier stage. Understanding how everything ties together and having a plan to fix the root cause is imperative for success. Compassion and Leadership:Leadership and empathy are two essential qualities a good president possesses. The same is true for an engineer. An engineer\'s work should be reliable and inspiring. At each stage of the journey, you must ask yourself,\"What type of product would be the best in terms of quality and ROI?
