During the first half of my APEx at Panhandle Public Health District, I conducted a structured literature review on career ladders, workforce engagement, and succession planning, with a focus on rural public health settings. I developed an Excel-based scoping review matrix to categorize key themes and best practices, which I then translated into a summary document to guide leadership discussions. In parallel, I analyzed four years of staff satisfaction survey data using SAS, identifying trends that informed the foundation for future engagement strategies. I also created a draft infographic to visually present strategic insights, making the findings more accessible to internal stakeholders. Throughout this process, I met regularly with my preceptor to align deliverables with PPHD’s priorities. These efforts supported multiple MPH competencies, including data analysis, program design, and internal communication, and contributed to the development of upcoming pulse survey and interview tools.
