ABOUT FARRAH CHAN
Hello! My name is Farrah and I am a 4th year Bachelor of International Economics candidate pursuing a career in buy-side finance, specifically private equity and early-stage venture capital. I began by interning as a Research and Evaluation Analyst at Verapax, a social impact focused, WOC-owned consulting firm. There, I utilized R Studio and Tableau to generate survey data visualizations for our non-profit clients, including Restorative Justice Victoria. Afterwards, I joined Sofvie, a mining-focused data analytics firm that focuses on risk management and workplace safety. I developed data collection and accuracy improvement processes for hazard prevention, increasing data management process efficiency by 13.7%. I utilized MariaDB and SQL to design time series graphs, and additionally established a database for incidents and hazard submissions data. Following my data science experience, I decided to apply my quantitative skills to the world of finance, beginning at Bridges for Enterprise, a social venture consulting firm, as a Senior Advisory Associate, then Director and now Co-President of the Vancouver Chapter. I\'m furthering my financial skillset by helping social ventures with financial modelling, revenue projections, and investor readiness documents such as cap tables and Confidential Information Memorandums. As of today, I have collaborated with a micromobility firm in Nigeria, agrotech firm in Cameroon, edutech firm in India and climate risk AI firm in India. Over the summer, I joined The Atmospheric Fund (TAF) as a Junior Analyst of the Impact Investing team building my network in the Canadian cleantech space, developing pilot projects and conducting due diligence for potential investees. This experience was incredibly enriching and further spurred my ambition to work in investing as my long-term career. During my free time, I enjoy reading non-fiction books about economics, Indigenous stories, world history, and political dilemmas. Furthermore, I stay adventurous by exploring new culinary experiences and picking up new skills (i.e. learning Mandarin, or playing a musical instrument).
