ABOUT FARHAD MOFIDI

I lead operational carbon, net-zero design, and building performance projects, bringing over 12 years of professional and research experience in sustainability, building engineering, and energy efficiency. My work focuses on delivering low-carbon, high-performance, and people-centred built environments through advanced energy modelling, sustainable design strategies, and technical leadership.I hold a PhD in Building Engineering with distinction from Concordia University and an MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Edinburgh. My background combines research, innovation, consultancy, and project delivery, giving me a broad and practical perspective on sustainability in the built environment. As Energy Manager for a multi-million-pound humanitarian project, I applied my expertise in building performance, energy efficiency, and sustainable design in a complex and high-impact delivery environment. My expertise includes dynamic building performance simulation, operational energy and carbon analysis, NABERS UK Design for Performance and Energy for Offices, UK planning and regulatory compliance, BRUKL, EPCs, energy and sustainability statements, daylighting analysis, TM52 and TM59 thermal comfort and overheating assessments, CIBSE TM54, HVAC and CFD modelling, passive design, decarbonisation studies, renewable energy systems, future climate scenario analysis, digital twins, and net-zero carbon strategies across Scopes 1, 2, and 3.Throughout my career, I have led and delivered projects aligned with NABERS, BREEAM, WELL, and LEED certifications, helping clients and project teams improve building performance, reduce emissions, and deliver meaningful sustainability outcomes. I am particularly interested in translating complex building science and simulation into clear, practical strategies that support compliance, operational performance, and long-term value.I am passionate about using building science, energy modelling, and strategic sustainability thinking to create measurable environmental and social impact across the built environment. Please feel free to get in touch at f••••••••@arup.com to discuss sustainability, net-zero carbon design and operation, operational carbon, and building performance analysis projects.
