ABOUT FARES AHMAD
My upbringing has instilled in me a deep appreciation for multifaceted identities and their interconnectedness. This personal ethos has been central throughout my engineering career—scaling technologies internationally—and drives my pursuit as a social scientist studying technology.How can our relationship with emerging technologies create more empathic teams, organizations and societies?Broadly, my interests span technology, organizing, and emotions. I am currently examining the intersection of technology and compassion, with a focus on how AI influences our ability to notice, feel, and alleviate suffering in organizational life. My research aims to unpack human-AI work practices in highly emotional contexts, the transformation of human-centered socialization in the age of AI, and how organizational dynamics shift when AI surfaces emotions at work. I am also in training for licensure as a professional clinical counselor and marriage and family therapist.
