ABOUT FAREEHA ABRAR

Fareeha Haque Abrar is a fourth-year journalism student minoring in computer science at the University of Florida. She is the newsroom assistant at the College of Journalism and Communications’ Innovation News Center. The INC is home to WUFT-TV, a PBS affiliate station, WUFT-FM, an NPR affiliate station, and wuft.org. During her time at UF, Fareeha has pursued her childhood passion to become a journalist. She has produced, edited, written, hosted, and project-managed a number of broadcasts, including WUFT’s over-the-top (OTT) television products, The Lede and The Breakdown, which she helped to launch. She also has served as a representative on the college’s Dean’s Student Advisory Council during the pandemic. Committed to authenticity and accountability, Fareeha aspires to report for global news outlets, such as the Associated Press and Al-Jazeera. Her career goals are to serve as a Foreign Correspondent and News Director.
