   Dr. Bhora in his role as Professor of Surgery at HMH SOM and Chair of Surgery HMHN Central Region has responsibility for all aspects of Surgical Services for HMH Central Region, including new programs, strategic partnerships, quality, recruitment, research and education. Dr. Bhora\'s clinical interest and expertise is in Thoracic Oncology Surgery. He specializes in minimally invasive approaches to thoracic diseases, using VATS and robotic techniques to perform minimally invasive operations. He is nationally and internationally known for his expertise in robotic and advanced airway surgery. Dr. Bhora is actively involved in translational research and in resident and medical student education. He leads a translational research lab that focuses on tissue engineering, 3D printing of the trachea, machine learning, augmented virtual reality to make surgery more precise, and research of large databases to help provide evidence-based solutions to thoracic diseases. He has mentored 15 post-doctoral fellows and over 300 medical students. He has authored several seminal publications and is regularly asked to organize, moderate and lecture at national and international scientific meetings. In addition, he serves as a consultant and scientific advisor to several major biomedical companies and is considered a thought leader in surgical innovation, digital surgery and futuristic surgical platforms. Dr. Bhora is President of the New York General Thoracic Surgical Club (NYGTSC) and President of the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society (ECTSS), one of the largest thoracic societies in the country. He has held or holds leadership positions and committee chairs in most major medical societies and is listed annually in all Castle Connolly and other peer referenced best doctor lists such as America’s Top Doctors, Top Doctors NY Metro Area, and America’s Top Surgeons for Cancer, America’s Top Surgeons, NY Magazine Top Doctors and New York Super Docs.
