Residential House Manager @Envision Unlimited

Envision Unlimited is a non-profit that provides programs and services to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, as well as persons struggling with mental illness. As the Residential House Manager for one of the Mental Health Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA), I work with adults who have disabilities in conjunction with mental illness diagnoses. In the CILA, our main goal is to equip them with independent living skills and symptom management techniques to truly live on their own outside of an assisted home or institution. In the CILA that I manage, I have 8 residents (all men ranging from late 20s to early 80s) and directly oversee 5 staff members. Choice and Autonomy is the crux of our whole philosophy. My administrative duties pertaining to the management of the staff, include but are not limited to: scheduling, payroll, ensuring medical documentation compliance to CARF, Medicaid, and BALC regulations. However, my true passion and joy are when I’m with the residents! I aid them with financial management, making sure they are active in status to receive all government benefits, stay compliant with treatment plans per the care team (psychiatrist, therapists, social workers, etc), and are overall growing as individuals. I do all medical documentation each day for the residents from medication administration, community outings, and case management. These individuals have gone through extreme trauma and suffering throughout their lives, I’m equipped with crisis prevention and intervention training. The bonds and relationships I have with the residents is so important to me. It’s my goal to make sure the residents know that they’re important and capable. I also aim to educate the greater public on extending greater understanding and compassion to those with disabilities, whether visible to the eye or not.
