ABOUT FAISAL MOOSSA ATHIKKAVIL
I earned my Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the University of Calicut in July 2024, where my research focused on the therapeutic potential and molecular mechanisms of a bioactive compound isolated from natural sources in colorectal cancer. This work provided comprehensive insights into carcinogenesis pathways and involved rigorous pharmacological safety evaluations, including acute and sub-acute toxicity studies in Swiss albino mice. These experiences strengthened my proficiency in in vivo methodologies and expanded my expertise in cancer biology. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Valente Lab at Pavia University, where I focus on neurogenetics research. In this role, I have advanced my skills in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, and data analysis, while refining my adaptability to complex scientific challenges. Collaborative research within this dynamic environment has further enhanced my problem-solving abilities and project management expertise. Throughout my academic journey, I have gained hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, including primary cell culture and iPSC differentiation, alongside molecular biology techniques, immunoblotting, PCR, flow cytometry, and cell line development. My strong background in cancer biology, combined with my capacity to rapidly acquire new technical skills, positions me well for collaborative, translational research initiatives.
