ABOUT FARHAD HOSSAIN

Farhad Hossain is an Executive Leader and Professional Accountant with an MBA from the University of Calgary, an MSc from Queen\'s University, and multiple senior Professional Accountancy designations (FCPA/FCMA/CGMA) from CPA Australia and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).He is a highly experienced and authentic leader with over 18 years of cross-functional experience in business finance, strategy implementation, and project management across multiple sectors, including local government, housing, healthcare, and consumer goods. He began his professional career as a management hire at a top British multinational corporation (FTSE 100). The global platform helped him demonstrate competency in management accounting, leadership, and revenue operations, leading to a progressive career of nearly a decade. After that, Farhad has been serving local government and allied organizations for over eight years as an executive leader (CFO/Director/Treasurer). Over the years, he has received various awards and scholarships for excellence in his work, including the Excellence in Local Government Finance Award, the Golden Boot Award, and a High Performer Award. He is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and General Manager at the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary in British Columbia, Canada. His journey is also marked by successful tenures in multiple governance positions. He has served on many boards and chaired many meetings. For example, he served as a member of the Board of Directors and Board Treasurer for Lower Columbia Community Health Centre. He also served as a Board Committee Member for the St. Mary’s General Hospital (Waterloo Regional Health Network - WRHN) in Ontario. He currently serves as the Board Treasurer of a not-for-profit housing corporation. Farhad is skilled in Governance, Risk Management, and Control and was awarded the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation. Additionally, he has received sector-specific governance training through the Ontario Hospital Association, the Condominium Authority of Ontario, and the Institute of Corporate Directors.
