ABOUT FAHMIDA ISLAM
As a graduate lead in the Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) group in EcoCAR, I am working on developing and testing innovative solutions for the next generation of mobility and energy systems. EcoCAR is a four-year collegiate engineering competition that challenges students to transform a conventional vehicle into a hybrid-electric vehicle with advanced features and capabilities. I am responsible for leading the CAVs team, coordinating the tasks, and ensuring the quality and safety of the deliverables.I am also pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering at Mississippi State University, where I have gained extensive knowledge and experience in signal processing, autonomy, and sensor processing. I have worked as a teaching and research assistant in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department and the Computational Intelligence and Learning System laboratory, respectively. In my research, I have applied artificial neural networks to wifi fingerprinting for room-level localization and tracking. I am motivated by the potential of applying my skills and expertise to solve real-world problems and create positive impacts in the automotive and energy industries.
