About Fabrizio Sabba
As a Process Engineer at Black & Veatch, I apply my skills and expertise in bioprocesses to design and optimize water and wastewater treatment systems for various clients and sectors. I have over six years of experience in conducting and leading research on processes for nutrients removal and resource recovery, as well as greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, from wastewater.I obtained my Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, where I developed and validated a mathematical model to explore nitrous oxide emissions from nitrifying biofilms, with funding from the Water Environment Research Foundation. I also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University, where I was involved in operation and maintenance strategies for biofilm reactors performing shortcut nitrogen removal bioprocesses for municipal water resource recovery facilities. My research has resulted in multiple publications in prestigious journals and conferences.I am passionate about finding innovative and sustainable solutions for water and wastewater challenges, and I enjoy working in a collaborative and dynamic environment. I am fluent in Italian, English, and Polish, and I have experience working in international and multidisciplinary teams and projects. I am also proficient in biofilms, biological nutrient removal, spectroscopy, mathematical modeling, experimental design, and operation and maintenance of biofilm reactors. I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies, and to contribute to the advancement of the environmental engineering field.
