ABOUT FABRIZIO POLTRONIERI

It’s time to harness AI to amplify human creativity! I am a mathematician, consultant, artist, international speaker, and researcher with over 20 years of experience in the field of Creative Artificial Intelligence. I am known for my contributions to the field of creative computing and have been recognised with numerous awards for my creative initiatives using computers.With a PhD in Communication and Semiotics from PUC/SP and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Royal College of Art (London), I have travelled the world as a keynote speaker and delivered workshops on the application of Artificial Intelligence in creative processes. I am a consultant for UNESCO in the area of artificial intelligence and creativity.In addition to my artistic activities, I currently dedicate my efforts as CTO of two companies to pioneering research into harnessing the collaborative and creative potential of artificial intelligence in various domains, including education and health.The ‘MarimbAI’ project, an innovative APP from my startup Big-C Creative AI, is revolutionising the way disabled children learn music and access musical instruments, and is being adopted in public schools in Kenya.Two of my books are bestsellers and references in the field: Explorations in Art and Technology (2018, co-edited with Linda Candy and Ernest Edmonds) and The Language of Creative Artificial Intelligence (co-edited with Craig Vear).As an artist, two of my AI artworks are part of the prestigious permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London. I won two Rumos Itaú Cultural awards for my interactive and artificial intelligence artworks.In 2020, my artwork ‘ArchXtonic’, a visual narrative entirely generated by artificial intelligence, was at the entrance to the UK pavilion at the ‘World Expo 2020’ in Dubai, representing the state of the art in the UK creative practice.My innovative explorations aim to uncover new ways of integrating artificial intelligence with human life, promoting revolutionary advances and pushing the boundaries of creative expression. I coined the term’ symbiotic future’, which summarises my vision as an entrepreneur, researcher and artist: A future where artificial intelligence does not replace human beings, but works together, in real time and with transparent processes, challenging human creativity and also being challenged by us.
