ABOUT DOMENICO FABIO SAVO

Domenico Fabio Savo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Management, Information and Production Engineering at the University of Bergamo. He received his Master’s degree in Computer Engineering in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Sapienza University in 2013. He was a fixed-term assistant professor (RTD-A) at the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering at the Sapienza University of Rome from March 2014 to February 2017, a visiting researcher at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) from February 2017 to September 2017, and tenure-track Assistant Professor (RTD-B) at University of Bergamo from 2018 to 2021. His research interests focus on the application of semantic technologies for information and data management. Specifically, he studies ontology-based data management (OBDM), knowledge representation, ontology engineering, and Semantic Web. He has taken part in numerous projects in collaboration with private companies and public administration bureaus to apply semantic technologies to real-world scenarios. In 2017, he co-founded OBDA Systems, a startup of Sapienza University, which proposes state-of-the-art solutions for data management based on the most recent breakthroughs in semantic technologies. Domenico Fabio Savo regularly publishes the results of his research in international conferences and journals, and serves as program committee member of the main international conferences on artificial intelligence. In March 2025, he received the Italian national scientific qualification as full professor (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale, sector 09/H1).
