I thought marriage counseling was going to be my end all be all, Until I got into the entertainment industry and realized it’s not just marriages that could benefit from a little communication. Starting off as a post-production assistant, communication was the only way I could effectively do my job. Making sure tapes got dropped off the right places and properly placing my boss’s lunch order, all took listening and asking the right questions. This played well into what my next profession would be as a life coach. Coaching is ALL about actively listening and asking the right questions and I used these skills as a trainer and facilitator while working with creative professionals in the advertisement industry. Directors would come up to me and say, “My team works in a silo and it’s slowing us down. I need them to work better with other teams.” My question to them would be, “How well does your team know the other teams?” Teams only work well together if they have good relationships and good relationships come from good communication, listening and asking questions. This is where I come in. My job is to teach creative professionals how to have good relationships through effective communication. Yes this takes listening and asking questions, but it also takes having uncomfortable conversations, setting boundaries, and knowing how to resolve conflict. Professional relationships are a lot like romantic relationships, where theres a lot at stake and success looks like collaboration and compromise. I teach and support creative professionals to work through these challenges with effective communication. I lead and facilitate workshops to impact teams at a large scale and coach 1:1 to support individuals with specific and sensitive situations. My passion is to teach and facilitate content that moves and inspires creative professionals to get sh*t done through communication.
