About Fabio Cian
Disaster Risk Management and Financing specialist, with in depth knowledge of Earth Observation and geospatial analysis techniques. My research and work activities in the past 15 years have focused on the following main topics- the use of Earth observation data for environmental and disaster monitoring, with a focus on the use of radar data (SAR), flood mapping and land subsidence- the assessment of disaster impacts and disaster risk, in particular floods, from direct physical impacts to capital stocks to indirect economic impacts (for e.g. in the financial and banking sector)- the assessment of climate change impacts in terms of extreme weather events (for e.g. in relation to the amplification of disasters\' severity)- support to the development of policies and financial instruments in the domain of sustainable development, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
