Always start with the simple and basic things- What is the reason for the project- What is the goal of the project- Who are the key stakeholders- What’s their expectation? Once the “what” is clear it’s easy: Start planning, find a good team and deliver in time and quality- Planning -\"Plans are worthless, but planning is everything.\"(Dwight David Eisenhower) I truly believe that planning is the key to success and not the plan itself, because it\'s outdated in the second it has been sealed. But planning helps to understand and communicate the risks of a project- Team -\"A fool with a tool is still a fool.\"(Grady Booch) It’s the people that make it a success not a tool or methodology. I tell my team what to do and not how to do it. My job is to give the best possible conditions to the team and the first thing is to set clear targets and to agree on expectations. Agility is a good way for the “how to do it”, but the ”what” must be clear before. Agile methods like SCRUM will not tell you the “what”. Effectiveness always comes before efficiency- Time and Quality - It’s a project’s nature to be risky and circumstances will change. Key for success is to set the right measurements and permanently review the business case against it.
