Ezra Lunel currently lectures in the Digital Media Dept. at Santa Ana College in Orange County, CA, in the Film Dept. at Long Beach City College, and in the TV/Film Dept. at Butte College. In May of 2020, he received the Santa Ana College Maestro Teach award for “connecting classroom content to student lives by integrating creativity into the curriculum and tailoring lessons, assignments, and teaching methods to engage with students’ individual needs and abilities.”Ezra has a strong background in pedagogy, serving for nearly four years as the Instructor Trainer and Supervisor for FLEX College Prep in Irvine, CA, teaching individual and group classes, developing curricula and lesson plans, and training and mentoring FLEX instructors statewide. Previously, he taught film production at the University of Guadalajara\'s Centro de Artes Audiovisuales (CAAV) and served as a graduate teaching assistant at Chapman University\'s film school.A graduate of UC Berkeley (BA, Interdisciplinary Studies) and Chapman University (MFA, Film Production), Ezra is a former independent producer, director, and video editor who has worked on productions for PBS, Lifetime Television, and Showtime; in development at River Road Entertainment and Future Film Group; and in television and broadcast journalism at CNN, ESPN, and KUSI-TV in San Diego.

   Since the Fall of 2021, at LBCC, I\'ve taught both in-person (Film 20) and online (Film 1) courses.• Introduction to Film Studies (Film 1)• Fundamentals of Digital Cinema Production (Film 20)I\'ve built my courses at LBCC from the ground up, designed and shaped around the course outlines of record and SLOs. For both classes, I integrate lectures and interactive group discussions with readings and written assignments that welcome critical thinking, reflection, and reasoning into the curriculum. In addition, because Film 20 is a hand-on introductory production class, I lead hands-on workshops with camera, sound, and lighting equipment, and the students (in groups of 3-5) develop, pre-produce, film, and edit their own film scenes. The course is dynamic and intensive, with 6.5 hours lecture and labs days.Because LBCC is a Hispanic serving institution with a diverse student population, I take seriously the need to approach my instruction guided by the philosophy and practice of equity and inclusion. I work with students whose needs and abilities may differ from most, like DSPS students, students for whom English is a second language, and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and historically marginalized populations. I prioritize providing my students with information that can help move their academic and professional careers forward, like scholarship opportunities, contests, and internships; I also connect them, when necessary, with student support services, like writing workshops, tutoring services, and mental health support.
