Core scientific contributor supporting RNA therapeutics programs from early ideation through decision-driving experimental stages- Own end-to-end design, execution, troubleshooting, analysis, and reporting of in vitro, in vivo, and molecular functional assays used to inform program-level go/no-go decisions- Independently develop and optimize mouse and human cell-based assays, including cell line development and transfection strategies- Design and execute in vivo mouse studies, encompassing tissue handling, functional and cytotoxicity assays, and proof-of-concept experiments- Serve as a technical point of contact for flow cytometry (FACS)–based assays, experimental design, and troubleshooting- Contribute data and analyses to internal reviews and presentations with scientific leadership and senior management- Build robust, reproducible workflows and SOPs that accelerate team execution.

ABOUT SHAI EYAL

Experienced scientist with ~20 years of hands-on experience designing and executing molecular genetics research across in vitro and in vivo systems, including zebrafish, mouse, and human models.I specialize in molecular genetics, signaling pathways, and RNA biology with practical experience in gene editing, advanced imaging, and rigorous assay and SOP development. I enjoy working in collaborative teams that value reproducibility, clear documentation, and thoughtful problem-solving, and I’m particularly motivated by mentoring trainees as they grow toward research independence. In recent years at Sanford Laboratories, my work has focused on RNA therapeutics, contributing to drug design and production as well as in vitro and in vivo assay development in mouse and human systems. In my previous role at UC San Diego, I led CRISPR/Cas workflows, authored validated SOPs, and generated transgenic reporter and knockout lines used to study hematopoiesis, alongside developing imaging pipelines for in vivo cell tracking and fate mapping. Earlier, at the Weizmann Institute of Science, I combined mouse genetics and advanced microscopy to identify novel cartilage progenitor populations, resulting in first-author publications and grant-seeding work.Outside the lab, I’m the founder of Lyzer’s Microbakery, following my late grandfather’s footsteps. Baking is a creative counterbalance to science—both reward patience, precision, and iteration.I’m always happy to connect around collaborative science, RNA-focused approaches, and translational research.
