About Eric W. Debord

Dr. Eric W. DeBord is a Director of Azure Cloud & AI Platforms for Microsoft with more than 25 years of experience in IT, spanning diverse roles, sectors, and industries. He holds a bachelor\'s degree in computer science, an MBA, and an Ed.D. with a focus in Learning Design and Performance Technology. His dissertation explored the benefits of a cross-organizational technology-focused community of practice, using Azure for Education as a case study. In his current role, Dr. DeBord leads and supports complex projects and programs involving Azure infrastructure components. He partners with customers and Microsoft teams to evaluate, optimize, and modernize application and data architectures — bringing in the right resources and experts to address their unique challenges. A growing focus of his work centers on healthcare modernization, where he helps organizations harness the power of Azure and AI to transform clinical workflows, improve patient outcomes, and accelerate the adoption of cloud-native solutions across health systems. From enabling interoperability and secure data exchange to supporting AI-driven insights at the point of care, he is committed to helping healthcare organizations navigate the complexities of digital transformation. One of his main areas of interest and expertise is community development and scale motions, where he strives to create clarity, connection, and collaboration among diverse stakeholders. He is passionate about sharing his learning and the Azure journey with others — and increasingly, about championing the intersection of AI innovation and healthcare as a catalyst for meaningful, lasting change.
