ABOUT INA C. BRIGGS

Meet Ina Briggs, M.A, a founder, educational consultant, and psychologist who held various roles including lead teacher, dean of instruction, DEI manager, and head of faculty to name a few. She is a certified educator with experience in early childhood and K-12 public, charter, and international school systems. Her diverse background and passion to create more equitable experiences in schools gave rise to the development of The Evolved Education Project. Ina started her educational journey at historically black college, Dillard University, with a focus on African American Studies. She completed her B.A. in Elementary Education, and M.A. in Psychology at National Louis University in Chicago, IL. Leveraging her education as a passport around the world, she spent three years teaching English, Math, and Science to Arabic-speaking girls in a language immersion program in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This rich cultural experience sparked her interest in understanding the links between culture, spirituality, and academic achievement. As Ina embarked on a personal journey of decolonization, she developed the awareness that schools must not only be places that cultivate joy and genius, but they must challenge the status quo to maximize achievement, particularly for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) students. Throughout her 15-year career in education, she encountered school environments that failed to embrace the unique identities of BIPOC students and staff alike. White-dominant norms, and curricula, among other policies, fail to celebrate diversity and amplify the strengths of their BIPOC stakeholders. Ina is a champion for teachers, school leaders, and all educational institutions that support the abolition of racist ideologies and oppressive methods and aim to replace them with antiracist, culturally responsive practices. She seeks to bridge the gap between intention and impact from a lens of equity in order to maximize worthwhile experiences for all.
