ABOUT EVIE-ROSE BROWN

I am a Law student at the University of Exeter with a strong interest in the intersection of law, technology, and human rights. Throughout my degree, I have explored complex legal challenges in Artificial Intelligence and the Law, Competition Law, Intellectual Property, Human Rights Law, Family Law, and Gender, Sexuality & the Law. My academic work has allowed me to engage deeply with legal research and real-world applications. My assessment in Artificial Intelligence and the Law examines regulatory sandboxes as an approach to AI governance, while my research in Gender, Sexuality & the Law focused on gender-based sexual violence and legal responses. In Family Law, I am developing a portfolio exploring child protection, the Law Commissions calls for reform on marriage ceremonies, parental responsibility, and domestic violence issues. In Human Rights Law, I am researching hate speech regulation and I have analysed the need for reform of the declaration of incompatibility under the Human Rights Act. Alongside my studies, I have gained over six years of experience in client-centered roles, balancing part-time work in the adult social care sector and hospitality while managing my academic workload. I currently work as a Care Assistant at Elizabeth Finn Homes, having previously worked at Platinum Care for five years. These roles have strengthened my emotional intelligence, adaptability, and ability to handle high-pressure environments while delivering compassionate care. I have also held roles in property and hospitality, including working as a Letting Assistant at Condor Properties and as a Chef de Partie at Burgers and Fish Restaurant. These experiences have further enhanced my time management, interpersonal relations, and problem-solving skills, as well as my ability to navigate client interactions in diverse industries. Balancing work three-to-four days a week alongside my studies has honed my organisational skills, resilience, and ability to manage competing priorities, all of which are crucial in the legal field. My client-focused background has also reinforced my passion for advocacy, legal research, and the practical application of law in areas that drive meaningful social change.
