ABOUT EVELYN THOMAS

I am an Urban Designer with over 10 years of professional experience across North America and Asia, bringing a global perspective to my work. My passion lies at the intersection of urban planning and design, exploring how municipal policies shape the built environment. My portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum of projects, including community visioning, master planning, mixed-use developments, transit-oriented communities, streetscapes, parks and open spaces, and planning studies for both public and private sectors. With a background in architecture and a specialization in urban design, I bring a unique combination of creativity and technical expertise to my work. I excel in developing design strategies, preparing Urban Design Reports for private developments, and drafting Urban Design and Heritage Guidelines for municipalities. My experience also includes conducting development reviews as an Urban Design Peer Review Panelist and facilitating community engagement sessions involving multiple stakeholders. I have contributed to Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) mediation processes, including preparing witness statements that supported successful settlement hearings. My ability to navigate complex urban design and planning challenges, coupled with my collaborative approach, makes me a valuable asset in creating meaningful and sustainable urban environments.
