ABOUT EVAN ZAUCHA
Evan is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he double-majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Psychology. Evan worked in the Dr. Susan Schantz laboratory at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science & Technology as an Undergraduate Research Assistant. He also held an information technology consulting position as a Site Consultant for Technology Services. Evan was highly involved in the Undergraduate Neuroscience Society where he acted as the Chair of Communications for two years. After graduation, Evan started his career in pharmaceutical contract research at LabCorp as a Study Technician. He became proficient in a number of laboratory and husbandry skills, including ECG and Jacketed External Telemetry data collection, and leveraged those skills to earn a role as a Nonclinical Electrocardiogram Analyst in Safety Pharmacology. During his time as an ECG Analyst, Evan became a leader on a number of system validation projects that taught him about validation within a GLP ecosystem, project management, SOP authorship, and building efficient data collection, analysis, and reporting processes. With his love for science and project management in mind, Evan took on a new role as a Computer Systems Validation Specialist (Immunology and Immunotoxicology), a project management role where he was responsible for managing GLP validation projects for immunology and immunotoxicology lab equipment, which included running international meetings that included stakeholders from 7+ countries, building GLP compliant data collection pipelines and processes, training staff, and writing globally compliant SOPs.While working in validation project management, Evan also worked part time as a professional basketball scout for Sports Info Solutions. As his part-time contract was about to expire, Evan earned a rare opportunity to take on a full-time scouting job in basketball and he took the leap. From 2021 to 2024, Evan leveraged his basketball subject matter expertise, mind for process efficiency, and people management skills to move up the ranks from part-time contractual scout to Associate Director of Basketball Operations, where he was responsible for managing a mid-sized department of basketball subject matter experts and making key strategic decisions across the organization.
