About Evan Zalek
I am a recent Environmental Engineering graduate from the University of Michigan College of Engineering with a minor in Urban Studies. I will be continuing my education at the University of Michigan, pursuing a master\'s degree in Environmental Engineering, with a focus on Process Engineering. I have experience working on wastewater design projects, as well as research and bench-scale operations experience with anaerobic digestion systems. I am currently exploring the use of near infrared(NIR) to support operational decision making for a full-scale food waste digestion facility. My extracurricular projects are with BLUElab Woven Wind and Pantanal Partnership. Woven Wind designs and builds small scale wind turbines and educational materials for k-12 schools. Pantanal Partnership collaborates with rural communities in the Amazon and Pantanal regions of Brazil to develop sustainable technologies including solar power and eco-incineration.
